This grant was given in support of the Puente, a unique global community service initiative led by 30 students at the University of Pennsylvania. Their mission is to develop and conncet global communities, bridging the technology gap in low-income urban areas around the world. Puente is the Spanish word for bridge. The students travelled to Pune, India to set up a computer laboratory. The computer lab in India is linked via Internet to an existing site that the University students helped set up in Ecuador as well as several labs that the group has established in Philadelphia.
