The American Center of Polish Culture

This grant was given in support of a project which enabled 20 orphans from Poland to visit to the United States. The children were between 12 and 14 years old and were accompanied by two teachers, a doctor. Highlights of the trip included excursions to Niagara Falls and New York City where the children were taken for a ride on the Hudson River with a visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty as well as a ride on the Potomac River to Mount Vernon, and a sojourn to Old Town Alexandria. The children also visited the Smithsonian Institute, the White House and the Capitol. While in Washington, they attended a luncheon as the guests of Congressmen of Polish descent and visited the Polish Embassy. This project was conceived by the First Lady of Poland, Mrs. Jolanta KwaSniewska and the directors of her Foundation “Communication Without Barriers” working closely with The American Center of Polish Culture to make the dream a reality.
